End of Term One

Brooke's first term of high school is complete. That seemed to go really quick - even Brooke is wishing that it was a couple of weeks longer. Mum and Dad went and met a lot of Brooke's teachers a couple of weeks ago, they all say she is a wonderful class member who is always well mannered, quiet and respectful.

Courtney has been really busy as well. We're all hanging to find out her assessment scores, but it seems like we have to wait until next term.

The Whitlams

Dad and Louise took Courtney to see the band The Whitlams. We think, aside from the Wiggles and similar, this the first music concert she has been to - it is certainly the first one at a hotel.

 

Brooke's 13

Happy 13th Birthday to Brooke. Like always birthday celebrations are being spread out over the week. Lots of cakes and lunches and dinners ahead.

Sculptures by the Sea

Today Dad, Louise and Courtney has a breakfast at the John Street Cafe and then wandered around Cottesloe Beach where the Sculptures by the Sea was being shown.

Brooke Starts Learning the Violin

Today is Brooke's first violin lesson.

Kings Park Picnic

This evening we went to Kings Park for a picnic. We had a great time judging all of the ball gowns worn by the girls arriving in limousines.

Fingernails

Over the school holidays, Brooke has been growing her fingernails to see how long they can get. Impressive. Although, we are sure they won't last long when school goes back and with definately have to be cut off before the netball season resumes.

Melbourne

The girls have been in Melbourne with Mum and Brad since New Years Eve. They flew over on the red eye which we here was okay but they needed a nap before getting stuck into the holiday

Black Hair

On New Years Eve, Courtney felt like changing things up a little and dyed her hair black.

This afternoon we had a picnic in the park and a game of cricket. Courtney has some skills!!

Mini Golf

Tonight we went to mini golf with the Karratha Cranes - and just for the record, Dad won!

Tattoo Artist

One of the presents Brooke got for Christmas this year was an airbrush. Yesterday she and Courtney set it up and Brooke is on her way to mastering "dots" and "lines" - it sounds a lot simpler than it is.

We learnt that the airbrush can make pretty good temporary tattoos.

Christmas Day

Christmas Day this year was fantastic with lots of presents and laughter. Brooke got a drawing pad which attaches to her laptop and a airgun for paint. Courtney got a microphone and video camera for making Youtube clips.

We all attacked Dad and Louise's house for the first time - about 20 people all up.

Weekend Sleep Over

Youth Theatre

During the school holidays Courtney has attended a youth theatre workshop which ended tonight with a play and then some musical performances.

Courtney sang "On My Own" from Les Miserables on the stage all by herself. It is fair to say Cj had the largest support group in the audience as well.

Aunt Tarita and the O'brien kids are in town so we went to a place called Bounce Inc. which is basically a warehouse full of trampolines.

Last night Dad, Louise and thecranegirls went to the State Theatre and saw a production of As You Like It.

It was a really funny play and both the girls really enjoyed the experience. Funny French accents and Australian cattle men.

Tonight is opening night for Courtney's first school play

Sushi Train

Lately, one of Courtney's greatest pleasures is going to sushi train. Although not 100% her thing, Brooke was lovely enough to allow CJ to go back to the sushi shop - again.

It was a lovely night for all - except the lady waiting for the elevator who Dad scared

Courtney and Jasmine spent this afternoon in the kitchen making marble cup cakes for the birthday bash tomorrow.

Busselton

Today is the last day of term one. This weekend thecranegirls are off to Busselton for a weekend of relaxing with Nana and Grandad.

Big Weekend

This weekend was very busy. Brooke had her netball wind up and Grandma returned from a couple of weeks in Queensland. On Saturday night Courtney and Louise went to see the West Australia Symphony Orchestra and Sunday was spent making nori rolls (no nori on Brooke's) and choosing paint colours for the walls at Dad and Louise's house.

Tomorrow Mum is off to Bali for the week and thecranegirls are staying at Nana and Grandad's house.

End of Netball Season

Today is the last game of the netball season for Brooke.  The girls had a good time and won the game. After that, they went for a team lunch at Sizzler.

So Brooke is now 12 and she got some great presents including a great pair of Pokemon shoes, hand painted by Amanda.

Brooke's Birthday Bonanza - Day 2

Brooke has taken on the idea of having a week long birthday celebration with lots of dinners with the family - and opening presents on most days. 

Tonight she went to out to dinner and then back to Grandma and Pa's house for some birthday cake. Brooke was really happy to receive a bright yellow Poke'mon onesie which we're sure will be getting worn a lot over the next few months.

Sculptures By The Sea

Today Courtney, Dad and Louise sprung Lilly from boarding school and we went to Sculptures by the Sea at Cottesloe before heading home to share some favourite guitar songs.

We think the best sculpture was the one made out of hundreds of Barbie Dolls

Tonight Courtney left Scouts and linked to the Venturers.

Haircuts for School

Skyshow 2014

Tonight we took advantage of the scaffold around the construction site at Dad and Louise's house and watched the Skyshow from the suburbs.  As it turned out we got to watch the fire works in Midland as well. 

It was fun.  Even a little 'drunken giraffe' dancing. 

Courtney's Axe

Courtney has a fancy dress party coming up soon so she has turned a ukelele into an "axe" - it looks awesome. 

Lord of the Rings Marathon

Courtney and  number of her friends had never seen the Lord of the Rings movies. Her friend, Kiersten thought they were missing out so they held a marathon to watch as much as they could in one day.
